Preparing For The Best Man's Speech
If you happen to be like me, you are probably fond of giving out speeches for your newly wed friends. However, I also have had my share of embarrassments during some of the past weddings where I was asked to give out a speech for the newly weds. I ended up making fun of the situation and I did not think that was quite funny as much as everyone else did. There was a time when I even blew some of the surprises even before the newly weds found out for themselves.
Since then, I told myself that I will be preparing well for wedding speeches if in case I get invited to give one in front. I am already 25 years old and most of my friends and family members are getting married.
This is the time when everyone else is getting married so I am expecting to attend a lot of weddings soon. In fact, I have already invested in buying several suits and tuxedos for future wedding events. I would not want to get caught wearing the same clothes over and over again in different weddings. It would be best to invest in some really good suits and tuxedos because you will surely be able to use them at least on a quarterly basis.
While you are at it, I suggest that you also prepare well for your wedding speeches just in case you get asked to give out one. Make sure to customize your speeches for the person you know rather than sticking to a generic speech. That would sound more sincere in every way. You can be certain that you will most likely see some of the same people in different weddings.
You do not want them to think that your speeches are scripted in every wedding you attend, do you? If I were you, I would give it a month to prepare well for a speech. That should be long enough.
As silly as some people might think, it is never crazy to practice your speech in front of a lot of people. In fact, it will help build your confidence. You will surely build up enough courage to stand up in front of a lot of people and say out your speech perfectly. Be mindful of the possible corrections that you might want to revise before the actual wedding day.
If you think you have practiced enough, make that one final practice with a bunch of friends. They will be able to tell you what they think of the speech you have prepared for the wedding.
Finally, make sure that you relax really well before you give out that speech. You are supposed to deliver it in a light-hearted manner since it is meant for someone close to you. Avoid sounding as if you were reading it out from a script. The key is to feel what you say. Sincerity will show if you are and the last thing you would want is to sound like a radio recording.
